Captured Glass

David Merrick is a craftsman working in Hastings, East Sussex with many years experience of mould making and design. David’s recent work involves creating unique, hand-made products from recycled glass. Glass bottles are crushed to produce smooth glass pieces of varying sizes. David designs and produces original pieces using these glass pieces captured in resin.
The pieces include large and small planters, bowls, paperweights and occasional tables using a variety of different coloured glass and pigments. These designs can be made to order and most objects can be produced in any of our range of colour combinations.
David has also made an Egyptian Scribe's Head using fine crushed glass from the recycling process. This Egyptian Head has been produced using three different colour variations each using thousands of tiny pieces of recycled glass.
Each of these products is handcrafted and the glass mix is done by eye, making each product unique.
